Wedding Update: 10 Days!

Well the wedding is approaching, FAST! We are 10 days away from the big day and things are coming together.

Last night we met with our DJ. We hadn't thought about doing a Dollar Dance, but after talking about it we decided to go through with it. If you don't know what it is, it is where those who are in attendance at the wedding can pay a dollar to dance with the newly wedded couple. After much discussion, we have decided to go for it! The money that we collect during the Dollar Dance will go to Youth First at the Dallas Resource Center. Youth First is an organization that is available to youth and young adults ages 14-22, "Recognizing the need for LGBT youth to have a safe haven, Youth First Texas was established in 1999. Today it remains the only LGBT-focused youth program that addresses the challenges LGBT youth face with family members, peers and fellow students." Both of us believe that this is an important organization in our community. Come to the wedding with your dollar bills, dance with us, and help support this great program.

We've been surrounded with love and support every step of the way, receiving cards, gifts and letters from family and friends who are so excited about our wedding day. And we've also received many wonderful gifts on our GoFundMe account, which grows day by day and will help us offset the cost of having two weddings: the religious ceremony here in Dallas, and the legal one in Boston. To those of you who've contributed - we are eternally grateful. And to those of you who've been meaning to...there's still time! ;) ....call now, operators are standing by!

Lastly, we have created an account through a wedding app called Wedding Party. If you have a smart phone, download the app for our wedding. Our wedding name is: heatheramanda2014. On the app, you can find information on our ceremony, where we are registered, and photos from our engagement session. You can also share photos in "memory lane" of Amanda and Heather. During our reception, we invite you to take pictures and post them to the app. We would love to see the celebration from your point of view. However, during the ceremony we ask that you don't use your cell phone. We have hired a photographer to take pictures for all of us so we want you to sit back, relax, and enjoy the ceremony with us.

Now, time for Amanda and Heather to get back to all their craft projects. See you in 10 days!
