With these rings . . .

On Saturday morning, Heather and I drove to downtown McKinney to meet with Debbie Chapa, our ring designer and an amazing jeweler, at her shop - Bella Bijou Fine Jewelry. We had been looking at rings on Pinterest for weeks, trying to find a design that would be meaningful to us and reflect our love and lifelong commitment to each other.

The time we spent with Debbie that morning was so special, as she listened to our story, asked lots of questions, looked at the rings we pinned, sketched for us and talked us through the process. It was so much more than going out and picking a ring. It was a deeply personal experience and it means so much to me that Debbie will create something that is uniquely ours.

Our rings will be identical in white gold, with a split shank and the shanks will overlap, crossing and in a way mimicking the eternity symbol. One shank will have small bead-set diamonds, my birth stone, and the other shank will have small bead-set sapphires, Heather's birth stone. We won't have a center stone, at least for now, but that may be something we decide to add for an anniversary down the road.

The hardest part is the waiting. We should be able to see the wax carvings in a little over 2 weeks. And then we'll pick up our rings in mid-September.

The ring below is similar, but ours will not have a center stone, and the bead work will be consistent throughout, and not encircling the center like the one below.

"Ruth 1:16-17" will be inscribed on the interior of the band on each of our rings.

English Standard Version (ESV)
16 But Ruth said, “Do not urge me to leave you or to return from following you. For where you go I will go, and where you lodge I will lodge. Your people shall be my people, and your God my God. 17 Where you die I will die, and there will I be buried. May the Lord do so to me and more also if anything but death parts me from you.”
